Greetings from MotoIQ!

MotoIQ is traditionally an automotive engineering media site that is dedicated to racecar engineering. This is their first divergence into the arena of offroading!

We are brand new to this community but have been huge Toyota offroading fans for years! We'd like to introduce our project 4Runner.

This 4Runner is a long time dream made true, particularly for my wife. It all started in 2007 when we sold her beloved ’99 SR5 4WD 4Runner to get two new cars – with the best of intentions. Well…we began this new adventure in March, when we traded in my diesel Excursion and came home with a 2013 SR5 White 4Runner 4WD. We already a vision for it: to build a technically proficient off road truck while maintaining on road performance. We opted for the SR5 for the 3rd row seat as well as the lower cost.

We spent the summer working with Icon, TRD and Nitto proposing and planning and here is Part 1!

We elected Icon's Stage V kit, TRD wheels and Nitto 295/70 R17 tires. There are many details and thoughts on the current state of the vehicle as well as plans for moving forward. While we have a clear understanding of automotive media, we humbly submit our initial build to your thoughts, ideas, concerns and desires! Give us some feedback on your experiences and let's meet up on some trails!

Completely agree with you on the running boards. Our next build topic is on a rear body mount chop followed by armor/rock sliders/etc...

Thoughts? We've been eyeing Bud Built, there quality looks pretty amazing.

Truck looks good! I'd agree with the losing the running boards and picking up a set of sliders.

Where about in Atlanta are y'all located?

You picked two of the best in my opinion. I have some armor from both Bud and Shrock and you cannot go wrong. I really like my Bud Bump out Beefy Sliders, they have proven themselves numerous times.

It comes down to personal preference and looks in my honest opinion, pick the ones that look better to you, they will all preform great!

Nice looking vehicle by the way, I'm subscribed to see your progress!

Damn you! I just spent the past 2 hours going through your website!

The first thing you guys should do is the BMC (body mount chop). Then you'll be able to turn without all the rubbing. And if you haven't already, move the inner fender liners forward. Better yet, just get a front bumper already!

Where at in Cumming is your shop at? I live back and forth between Cumming and Marietta. I'm up mostly around the northern part of Cumming. We'll for sure have to meet up. I'd love to check out those Icons, and wheel some.

Hey guys, we finally got to do some wheelin somewhere near the corner of no and where in KT. It was an amazing slice of land (6500 acres) that had not been settled since the late 1800s. While we were mainly there to hunt, we were able to put the truck through some trails and obstacles throughout our stay.

I've had several different offroad vehicles with various types of lift from body lifts to shackle kits but nothing even remotely compares to this....This ICON kit is inspiring. The truck just molds itself to the terrain as these Trailgrapplers claw their way through.

BTW, our next install will be posting on the 15th of December!! BYE BYE STOCK STEP RAILS.....

We captured this scene from the KT trip and submitted it to ICON for their #IVD17K contest and we won the creativity category!
