motor sputtering

this morning on my way into work I hit the gas to pass another car on the highway, after doing so and slowing it was running rough. after exiting at my exit and traveling surface roads it was sputtering a lot and jerky. it never stalled but it felt like it wanted to. I have a 2002 V6 3.4 with 286,XXX. Please need some help. Thanks

When was the fuel filter changed and the spark plugs and wires done?

fuel filter, I haven't done since I've owned it, 120,00 mi. The plugs and plug wires have less than 20,000. Also, i wasnt sure if it happening right after hitting the gas to pass someone caused the problem, or just made a small problem worse. looking at other threads I'm hoping it's the IAC or fuel filter. And hopefully itll be ok to drive as it is since I'm at work and not exactly a great place to work kn a vehicle and it's my only vehicle.

You hit the gas and it started the issue. Could be lack of gas and easiest thing could be the fuel filter. Make sure to get an OEM filter.
