Has anyone swapped a 07 or newer Tundra 5.7 into a early 4th gen? I found a motor/tranny/t-case/ and harness out of a 07 Tundra for cheap money. I also came across a 2005 4Runner with a bad motor. I have done motor swaps in the past and I know nothing is truly "bolt-in". But Im wondering if the motor even fits.

Not that I am aware of, I will tell you right now it will be a ridiculously tight fit, I don't even know if it will fit with the exhaust headers mounted (They will need to be custom made.)
If you do try this swap, PLEASE PLEASE take lots of pictures, diagrams, drawings, and let us know how it goes I know a few of us have thought of doing this.

No way, the v8 4.7l is already squeezed in there. Did you see the factory exhaust manifolds on the v8s, they are cramped to begin with?
You would have to do some serious modifications to fit a 5.7L.
I think the ls1 (gm 5.7L) might be an easier fit since it was designed for cars. I have seen them in miatas so I am sure they can fit in a 4runner. The tundra 5.7 is larger since it is a truck engine.

I saw a guy cram a Range Rover V8 into an MGA roadster. Anything can be done with enough time and money. I would never try it, but it would be kick ass if the OP does.

The miatas all have the fire walls cut. To OP: the 5.7 could fit with a cut fire wall, custom exhaust manifolds, and a lot of fabbing on the mounts.
I have stuffed a few motors in Fieros that were never meant to go in there. ( Its actually not that bad) I dont know if Im ready to tackle a swap like that right now, I have a family that takes up most of my free time. I was more just wondering if it could/had been done yet. I may pick up one or the other just to have it and maybe someday get around to doing something with it.

I don't remember the exact dimensions of the 5.7L, but if I remember the physical block is not that much wider/longer than a 4.7L block (now "not that much" is sort of relavtive in this discussion...) But you might be able to squeeze the engine into the bay and onto the frame, the exhuast manifolds I have no clue how you'd do them with or without the converters attached. But you will have to deal with all the other crapola like the intake plenumn, wiring, solenoids, modules, hose routing, ect ect. I think its doable, but honestly it'll be a seriously tight fit... I've only given it cursory thought before looking at building up a 4.7L or 4.6L engine for the 4th gen.
