Moving a 28' travel trailer?

Am I asking for trouble hooking up a 6500 pound travel trailer to my 2001 just to move it to another location on my land? I would be using 4 lo for sure and only moving it about 150 yards but there are some 5-8 foot elevation changes on parts of the logging road. I guess I'm mostly worried about the 650 pound tongue weight. Anybody else do anything similar?

Nope, and I bet only a few have. However, I have seen some drive 7K+ loads on the highway. That is certainly outside manufacture's recommendation though. That being said, if you drive very carefully, you'll probably be fine. Maybe have a bystander watch the hitch and ball to ensure nothing is bent on the 4runner.

I used to tow my 22' travel trailer at my hunting lease without any issues. It was only about 3600 lbs, not as heavy as yours. I would not have any issues trying something heavier since I never had any issues towing it in the ranch and on the road.

I've done it with my 29' (8500lb loaded down), EZ does it! Similar situation - gf wanted a different view of the deer lease and I stupidly agreed but seems worth it. Yeah used 4 low, Luck!
