Mr. Projekts Build Thread

Hey guys, I picked up this 4runner about a month and a half ago (December 2015) I loved the quality of my wife's 2016 and I was looking to build another trail rig for the Colorado Mountains here, so the obvious answer was to build a 4runner!

I had built an Xterra before this truck (you would think it would be unique) but some others started "cloning" my truck so to speak. It was just a little annoying having an exact replica of my truck on all the trail runs....

So here's my mod list so far (I just ordered most of this stuff, so if it's not pictured yet, it's because it's either being fabricated or it's in the mail :D)

Mods:
3" Toytec Bilstein 5100 lift kit
emelianenkov's 1/2" body lift
Insain Fab front plate bumper (the same bumper pictured on my Xterra, yet modified to go on the 4Runner)
17x8 -10mm Level8 Mk6 (in black of course)
285/70 Cooper Discoverer MTP tires
CBI Ditch light mounts
LED ditch lights
Insain Fab roof light bar mounts
42" curved light bar on roof
Engo 10k winch
LED interior lights
LED headlights and fog lights
HCF Delete
front sway bar removed

Maintenance:
MOOG inner and outer tie rods January 2016
new OE spec CV axles January 2016
fresh alignment January 2016

Future plans:
Rear bumper / tire carrier
rock sliders
navigation system
cb radio
black housing headlights
Rola Vortex Roof rack
rear Gobi ladder

a couple pics of my old Xterra:

So I found a pretty good deal on this Black Sport Edition w/ the 4.0L and here she is bone stock the day I brought her home:

His and hers black 4Runners:

first "mod" was the running boards had to go!

I knew the OEM XREAS suspension was blown and it needed inner and outer tie rods and CV axles.... so that was first on the "to do" list so I figured I would go ahead and do my 3" Toytec Bilstein Lift and MOOG parts:

right now that's how she sits, however.....

needs a water pump... and might as well do the timing chain while I'm at it...

That was quite a good looking Xterra you had ! Very capable looking. Enjoy your 4th Gen.

Looks like your modding is off to a GREAT start !

How many miles do you have on your rig? If it less than 250k and you don't have any codes I wouldn't mess with timing chain. Kinda a waste of money but to each there own. Nice looking sport you have.

Thanks! I appreciate it! I'll be honest, I love the 4runner far more than the X already! and give the 4runner a little time, and It'll put the X to shame :D

it only has 114k on it. I dont have any codes or anything like that... and I dont have the time to do it, so the shop that I got a quote from said they would do it for an extra $40 in labor... so at that price, why not. I bought the timing chain/ water pump kit for $180... the water pump kit alone was like $100... so total cost is only an extra $120

Water pump is done.. and yea... you were right! timing chain is staying in.... too much of a pain in the @$$ to change!
