You think that's crazy? Some manufacturers allow you to change the perspective to make it look like you are outside the vehicle:

Since there is a wide angel camera in the front, one in the back, and one on each side, the computer just "stiches" all 4 angles and put a generic image of the truck in the middle to make it appear like we can see it from above

I'm sure the computers now can do some amazing AI/AR "fill" to show a lot. But would it show the detail of say a load of gear you strapped on your roof as you're bombing down the highway? I'm guessing the Bird's Eye view of the roof is just an approximation and not "live".

That's what I figured. The "roof" view is just there to give our brains perspective and a point of reference.

So looking at buying ORP this weekend, but after test drive was severely disappointed in the quality of the backup camera and MTM. Hear that the MTM seems to degrade the backup camera quality. Is there a way to get rid of, permanently disconnect the MTM cameras? Leaving only the back up camera? Would that improve resolution of the backup camera? Brightness settings help any with clarity?

Multi camera views are well worth it IF you travel off pavement, regardless of the resolution.

MTM is pretty handy for backing up and parking in tight spots, as well as questionable off road situations. The quality isn't all that great but it's not a replacement for turning your head and utilizing your rear/side mirrors.
