Oh man that sucks, sorry to hear about your frustrations! Plastidip works amazingly well around emblems and such just because it peels off so easily around the edges of the emblem where you don't want it to be and stays put on the emblem, but doing racing stripes is a different story, it isn't too difficult once you learn the trick in how to do it but it would definitely be frustrating spending all the time to mask properly only to have it turn out the way it did for you.
