My commute will be shrinking immensely

...short of working from from home.

Right now I drive 20 miles round trip which tags on about 4700 commuting miles a year and now I'll be working about a 1/4 mile away so my round trip will be less than a half mile so even if I drove every 5 days a week for 47 weeks (5 weeks vacation) I'd still only drive about 115 miles a year.
This will save me around a $1000/year and think of all the wear and tear my truck won't getting and since this will lower my annual mileage to less around 3500 miles a year I may always have to replace my tires due to age and not mileage.

Thats great, congrats. For 1/4mi dont even start up the vehicle, just walk. Heck, I walk 1 full mile just to begin my commute on the train. Leave it in the garage as it wont even warm up in that amount of distance.

That's cool! If possible, just walk and it is good for your health. Just use your car on the weekend or partying during the nights.

I am a mile away from my work but in between my work place and my apartment is an interstate highway and walking would take me like about 3 miles. :lol: . I'd rather use my ride.

Oh yeah,I wasn't planning on actually driving it very much if at all and riding my bike will happen alot and in the winter my wife can take my truck on snowy days (she drives a focus) and I know she'll get to work fine.
Hopefully by April my wife will be moving to the Home Depot just 3 miles away which will shorten her commute from 20 miles round trip.

Nice, my commute is 25 miles roundtrip and it sucks having to fill up every 8-10 days. The job I was working at before was 1 mile away and I would have ridden my bike, but they weren't hiring full time so I had to change. I'm just happy I don't have to drive 50-100 miles like some people.

Nice! My commute is up a flight of stairs to my office. :thumb3: Somehow I still managed to put 20k miles on mine in the first year.
