My Daystar Problems...

Ok so I got my truck back with the new XREAS. The receipt shows 4 new absorbers. They were from the local Toyota dealership....

The truck does not seem to handle as well...however the last time I drove it it has highway tires on it and no lift...

Wouldn't they need to replace more than just the shocks....

Did Toyota put them in? The system is a pressurized system. If they put new xreas shocks on, then you have new shocks. The question is, did they re-pressurize the xreas system?

The shocks are from Toyota and they were close to 200.00 a shock, that is not what they charged me but showed me there invoice from Toyota.

I guess I just thought they would have to run new lines, etc....not just buy 4 expensive shocks and hook them up..

So I went to the local Toyota dealership and confirmed online with a tech that if more than a drop of fluid was removed from the xreas it is shot.... I raced over to the shop and provided them the info I learned. They seemed hesitant to agree, but said they would look I into it.

I got a call 4 hours later saying I was right and they are going to install the whole system from scratch. Hopefully, this time, they know what they are doing; I just want my truck back to the way it was when I brought it in for my Daystar lift, what a nightmare.

Dang, that stinks man! Hopefully they get it right. I'd probably ask to see the old and new parts, or at least peek under there and see the new. I'm curious to know how they put the system on anyhow..

Completely new xreas installed....complete with a parts list from Toyota of over 2k....total bill was 2700....I didn't have to pay any....;)

Good deal, especially on their end for owning the mistake and correcting it. Probably the most expensive one they've made. Wonder if their insurance picked up that tab..

I have to admit that I am impressed with that shop for making up for their mistake. Most places wouldn't do that. From everything I have read, going with 5100s and other springs, is a harsher ride than XREAS. I plan to replace mine when I start having problems with it. I am not doing the FJ upgrade I have seen others post about. Because if it made my 4runner ride like a 3rd gen, I would not be happy.

Great to see they made it right !!

You should have just gotten a full suspension lift in the first place. XREAS is the first thing to go with one of those

They already put in the lift......back when they drained the xreas system.....so I am all set.

Thats great...when you said they couldn't get the strut out I thought they gave up. Most shops would not fix the problem they caused and many would have had you waive your rights first. It is one of us XREAS owners greatest fears, and why so many install it themselves. Glad it worked out ok in the end. Pics!:hungry:
