This is the first comment ever that has made me want to sell my 4Runner.
I always make a point to park really close to those that think they are so special that they need their own parking. Especially those in a mid-tier vehicle like our TRDPs.
It's a truck, it wants dents, it needs dings, being clean and dent free is like having a couch with a plastic cover over it in a room you're not allowed to enter.
For the record, I had my TRDP offroad in the first month, came back full of pinstripes and hood chips from the road trip...considered it broken in.

It’s not your place to decide whose car should get dings and dents and how. There is no reason to be an ass if someone wants to keep their car away from door dings. Don’t be high and mighty trying to ‘show’ then or teaching them a lesson. You’re just acting like a jerk.
You’re also not the only one what wheels your new car and there is a difference between door dings due to other people’s negligence and trail dings while having a good time out.

+1 for the protection sliders offer regarding door dings and other happenings. On my lightly lifted 2012 SR5 at almost 8 years no door dings (yet). The self absorbed, phone addicted dip shitzes doors hit the sliders every time. An awesome accessory for an awesome rig and putting them on was the best idea I've ever had.
I never said who should get dings or not and he has a right to park far away.
But, it's also an open parking lot, so if someone wants to park next to a single vehicle that is a mile from the entrance, so be it. It's not your place to tell people where they can park and you're no more special than any other person, that's my point. As you said, people can choose to avoid dings...you can do that by leaving it your garage and never taking it out into the big, bad, scary world.
My post was meant to be a bit sarcastic (see the couch comment), it's going to happen eventually. Consider it broken in, this post is the equivalent of saying that you got a rock chip because someone else had the nerve to drive in the same lane as you on a highway.

New vehicles seem to be a magnet for damage.My daughter bought her first new car a few months ago 2019 Corolla hatchback.She didn't have it a month and it was backed into at Wal-Mart hit and run.

Same thing happened the week I bought my 08, some a-hole with a white car backed into my front bumper in a parking garage and jacked it up, hit and run of course
I guess it all depends on how bent out of shape you get about things that you can't control and don't really matter. I got hit from the rear a couple months back and it crushed the back and shoved me into a car in front of me. I got out and my first thought was "is everyone ok?" I shrugged off the fact that the kid hit me with no brakes, going 40 mph because he was on his phone. He apologized, I just looked at him and said "it's just metal and plastic, it can be fixed" - the day I got my truck back, someone backed into my front bumper and took off. I just laughed, knowing I couldn't control any of it.

I walked out of Home Depot in time to watch a guy carrying a bag of cement near my vehicle. He slides it onto the truck of my '95 Avalon so he could open his trunk. He's too short to lift the bag, so he slides it on and off the trunk. I felt a lightning bolt of anger and then calmed down by knowing that the paint on my trunk was badly faded and partially missing. But still ...

Yes they work the best. Mine come out far and most cars that park a side of the 4runner sit much lower so you know what’s happen. Gotta love it when someone opens there car door and bang into the sliders.

There's not much to say which hasn't been said already, but in all honesty:
- Why do you call it 'Blue Eyes' when it's eyes are obviously white? Shouldn't you be calling it Blue Body, or White Eyes?
- Invest in sliders or nerf bars that protrude far enough to prevent door impacts. Tyger auto makes some cheaper tubes that do the job.
- If you want it to be perfect forever, you should either leave it in the garage and only drive it to the end of the driveway and back, or failing that, keep a picture of 'her' in your wallet when she was brand new to reminding you of Better Times.
- You should take that prose and write your true love like that. As Tory said, the truck won't love you back.

I mean sure if everyone walks away that's always the best scenario but very often that's not the case. There's a stark difference between accidents and sheer negligence. I absolutely cannot stand people on their phones while behind the wheel. It's infuriating.
