My "Gateroshi" is taking shape!

Finally getting around to getting a Satoshi for the T4R. Gaterose kindly agreed to do me one, and here are some early pics.

This is what the gateroshi is going to go on:

Gaterose and I weren't sure whether to leave the inside lip black (like my old truck - see below) or paint that also in silver to match the whole grill. Anyone got any suggestions between the two?

You can pick up a brand new one at rock auto for 60 bucks. Not sure what the junk yard will charge, just an option. Looks great though! Cant wait to do mine soon.

Wouldn't say I'm starting a business but I'm doing a couple here and there in my spare time.

My vote would be for black. I did the inside of mine black too.

Yeah I understand the black on the ones like mine and yours where the mesh protrudes, but I'm afraid it'll look funny with the recessed mesh, in part due to the black around the bottom bar. Where the taco has a full surround of white, the 4Runner has the splits that are black. I'm afraid that'll blend oddly with the mesh in the back.

Oh, that's right. I didn't think about his not being a protruding one. You're right. I'm not sure how that'd look being black.

Yeah thats for the 05' grill, my bad. The 06 is $92 like you said. It comes painted black though incase that helps anyone haha. Im gonna be ordering the 05' this week in attempt to make my own. Hopefully it comes out semi-decent. Wish me luck! :hunter:

If you're going to go with the recessed mesh then I think that the color-matched surround looks best. Little less forgiving finish-wise but Matt can handle it.

You mean color match both the inner lip and the outer surround or keep the lip black and color match only the outer surround?

I was thinking keep the lip black, but Matt has a good point in that the lip on the 4R isn't as deep as the lip was on the Taco Satoshi. So a thin lip that is black may not look good?

I was advocating for color matching the surround completely with just the actual grille being black.
