My New To Me 4Runner

I just thought I would share a few pics of my 4Runner. I have been wanting one for the past year and started looking the first of the year, which is when I found this site. After searching around this site for a few months, I signed up and then last Monday I found the exact 4Runner that I wanted and bought it.

It's an 05 Sport with only 13k miles on it, it has just about every option except leather.

I have owned nothing but Chevy Blazers the last 12 years, my last one was a 2000 ZR2, here is a rear pic of my old one and the 4Runner at the dealer:

I really miss my ZR2 and have been really missing that thing the last few days. But let me tell you something, that ZR2 was no where near as nice to drive as the 4Runner. My ZR2 had such a rough ride and you felt every little crack in the road, and all the panels inside the car made a ton of noises.

I really like this 4Runner and it's taking me time to get adjusted to it, it seems to be taking time for people to think it's mine. When I had my ZR2, everyone in the world would guess it was mine in a parking lot because it fit me so well. With the 4Runner, no one thinks that and that feeling is starting to rub onto me.

But I am very happy with this 4Runner, and I love the options and color. So far the biggest problem that is eating at me is how the lights do not turn off and on on their own (which I'm use to), but the dash lights are on all the time, this keeps making me think the lights are on when in fact they are not.

Good job! What made you switch with 12 years of Blazers to the 4Runner? Also, I dunno about your 4Runner but after I turn off the car, the lights go off after 30-seconds. Trust me, you will be very happy with your 4Runner,and it will fit you, just give it time. Welcome!

Thanks for the positive remarks. Ya, my headlights also shut off after 30 seconds, but they just dont turn on, so I need to train my brain to turn them on now where I never had to before because the sensor on the dash did the thinking for me.

I made the switch to the 4Runner because GM currently makes nothing that I would want to buy, isn't that sad? I really liked my ZR2, but it was small and I really needed more room and 4 doors, and one thing I really liked about my ZR2 was the ground clearance, and the 4Runner was about the same. I looked at the Trailblazer and it's okay looking, but it felt like I was in a mommy mobile, and I'm still a young single guy, also the Trailblazer does not sit up off the ground very high, where as the 4Runner does.

So after tons of research and looking around, I decided to go with the 4Runner. I also like how these 4Runners hold their value and are very well built, I didn't want something that I would need to keep taking back to the stealer getting something fixed.

I sort of feel guilty for trading in my Chevy for a Toyota, but I still have my Silverado SS, so I'm still good I guess.

Yea. I hate having to turn the lights on myself, but meh, I really couldn't care less. Yea the TrailBlazer is really bad. A friend of mine has one, and although it has a nice ride, and the seat are higher off the ground, it sucks. Its louder at highway speed, underpowered for a 4.2L, mini-van ground clearance, and kinda ugly, lol. Really though it's like a glorified mini-van. If you didn't already know, the V6 is really powerful for a V6, and its so quick compared to alot of other cars/SUV's. Its nice to get out into traffic moving along at nearly 60MPH without making it slow down.

GREAT CHOICE! That salsa red just POPS out at you. It looks very nice especially on a Sport Edition. You don't see that combination too often, and when you do see it you just have to stop, look, and admire it. You are absolutely going to love your new truck. Ya, I seen a red sport a few months ago and made up my mind at that moment that that was the color I wanted in a sport model. It's so sharp looking no matter what the lighting is like, it just stands out of the crowd. When I found this one with very low miles and still had the factory plastic on the radio and speakers, heck even the remote control for the rear audio was still in the original plastic. I knew I had to have this one at that moment.

I really like this site and all the good info on here, plus everyone seems to be real nice and respectful towards others. I use to belong to a site for my ZR2 and that place was dead, would take months to even see a new reply or post.

You've moved up in the world. Chevy hasnt made anything, other than a Corvette, that I'd want, in many, many, many years. My parents used to run Blazers too, they were total junk but dad kept buying them because I guess he was too stubborn to go pick something else out. Finally they got rid of the last one, and got a Hyunda Santa Fe, fully loaded. They LOVE it, could not believe they hadnt switched from the Chevy/GMC's for all those years. They have really gone downhill. Your new ride, on the other hand, is one of the top rated vehicles, and from a company that is really kicking some serious ass in the automotive industry. You will NEVER go back to domestic again after this lol. We moved from an Acura Integra to our 4Runner (have a 2.5 year old and a week old baby, so we HAD to get something bigger). We had our Acura for 10 years, it was a 96 GSR bought used, and never had any trouble from it, except the clutch went out at 100K, and a couple radiators, and at 133K miles, I finally had to put it's first set of brakes on it, which consisted of turning the rotors, and putting on new pads. Traded it in at 143K miles running perfect, not burning a drop of oil, and getting 30 MPG. Cant say that about any domestic!!! Hence why we stayed foreign, and after having had a 4Runner for a rental a few years ago, we already knew what we wanted.

You will love it more every week you drive it. And find yourself getting lots of looks, and parking further out in the parking lot where there are no other cars lol. :biggrin2:

Congrats on your new sport and welcome to the 4Runner family. After driving the 4Runner for a few weeks, you will not miss the Blazer at all. As for the lights, you can have the dealer program them to turn off after set amount of time or when the driver door is opened. In addition, when the headlights are on, there is a little green bulb that illuminates on the dashboard.
