hi everyone!
well, yesterday i finally did it... pulled the trigger and bought a 4runner. this is my first foregin 4wd. have had 4 jeeps (2 wranglers, grand cherokee, and reg cherokee) and couple of chevy 4wd (blazer and tahoe) - still own grand cherokee and tahoe. anyway, i have always liked the looks of T4R and have always heard really good things about them. so far, i love mine. my only gripes are the interior seems a little cheaper than american made but also its a 15 year old vehicle so these things happen.:happens:
anyway, i bought a 1996 toyota 4runner limited (tan w/ silver fenders - will post pics soon). it has the rear lockers which i thought was a pretty cool option. bought it from a friend of a friend who is the original owner and a good person. it litterally has never been true offroading... snow driving and loose gravel is about the hardest it has seen. it has 136K and is in great shape overall. clean record. the prev owner has all the maintenence up to date. he did the timing belt and big 80k service. nothing other than minor problems (new battery and a couple of things like that). everything works with the exception of the cd player (plan to get a new one). there is no attenna but there is a hozzle that one can screw one into - not sure if that will fix that issue or not.
everything is pretty up to date but i still plan to go ahead and change oil, diff fluid, plugs, fuel filter, et cet...
other than the interior which isnt bad... couple small tears in leather, the MPG's (seems like it could be doing a little better which is why i intend to do the FF), and the fact that the prev owner didnt do the keyless entry (which i plan to mod soon) everything is great!

p.s. one more quick gripe... the vehicle has a strong musky smell (not musty). you know the guy at church that is 80 years old and wears musk strong enough to make musk deer pin its ears back and run? yeah, thats the guy i got it from... but in time i know it will pass.
