Mysterious clanking noise after mudding

I have a stock 2006 4runner that I recently took mudding. After washing it down I took it for a short drive and discovered some kind of clanking noise from the front. I can't reproduce the sound from going over bumps or anything, it just happens randomly even when driving smoothly. However, I did find tons of grass and mud stuck in the holes in the front skid plate and had put in new brake pads about a few weeks prior. Driving and handling isn't an issue so I hope it's not too bad and just mud flinging around. Any help appreciated
