Post script for anyone who runs into a similar problem—it was the fuel pump.

Jason, did you have anymore idle issues after the fuel pump was replaced?

How do I view live data? I have a basic code reader only. Specialized tools, presumably.

My latest thoughts are the throttle body (control…? It’s been cleaned 2x now) and the upstream air/fuel/O2 sensor. It has thrown a p0171 code once or twice.

It's pretty easy actually. Just order a Bluetooth OBD dongle online, and you can hook your phone up to it and view all sorts of data that you can't see on your average OBD scanner. Dongles are about $10-15 and it's pretty cool to be able to see all your vehicle data. Some people also recommend getting an on/off switch for the dongle since they typically have LEDs on them and can drain your battery if you don't drive it for a week, but that's more a preference thing (I do have the on/off switch for peace of mind). Switch should be around $5.
