Napa had the better part...

So, I just replaced the upper radiator hose in my 3.4 V6. I went into my local AutoZone and bought one, came home to trim it a bit and install it. I didn't like the way it fit, and the bend put it right over the fan where I got maybe a half-inch of clearance.

Long story short, I checked it a couple days later and I could see where when filled with fluid, it would move and sure enough the fan was putting small nicks into it... I ended up going into Napa and bought one that fit worlds better and actually went out away from the fan before the bend.

Long story short I had to buy the part twice, but was much happier with the Napa hose than the one I got from AutoZone. Nothing against AutoZone, I still shop there quite a bit and they were cheaper, but in this case Napa had the better part.

I've had way better luck with used OEM hoses from junk yards than part stores. My oems now have 290k miles and in good shape.

Backup option for belts and hoses for me is Gates, they have always done very well for me and fit well.

OEM is like 9 bucks per hose.

Napa has been my non OEM go to place for 30 years. I have an account with them that gives me 25% off.

I didn't like the fit of the OEM crank seal so I bought a Napa and was pleased.

Imagine how much waste we generate by buying cheap (Chinese) products? and how frequent we have to replace it. This is happening all over the world!
I replaced driver side CV axle seal (in my car) with a national oil seal. after few months it started leaking oil. the fresh oil that was there is now a waste (didn't use its full life). Replaced with an OEM from Camelback. No leaks for past 4 years!

Are you sure you didn't have the auto zone one flipped around? Happened to me once. The fan did cut a little mark on mine too.
