Need an opinion on CarMax offer

I lost my job in Feb and. actively looking but considering ways to raise cash buffer, but not desperate.

2016 Toyota 4Runner Trail Premium/ 35,500 miles/ White
- One owner (me since new)
- Couple of rubs on rear bumper, no wrecks
- Schrockworks Front Bumper with warn winch (never used)
- C4 Fabrication Sliders
- Cornfed leveler kit
- 33" BFG's (Free 55mph wobble)
- AGM Battery w/ cheap solenoid operated House AGM Battery

Truck is full of shit right now, but drove by CarMax to get an offer. They offered $33000. could I get a 2-3k more if I sell myself? or should I take the offer and run.

Hot market right now, so you could probably get more if you didn't care to hassle with the sale yourself. Sounds like a pretty strong offer though.

Thanks for the input. It hurts my feelings to think about selling it, because it is a great ride, but I have about 20K in equity in it. I will probably delay as long as possible and hopefully get a job in the mean time.

I would take off the sliders and sell them separate. With wait times and steel costs you'll likely get $800+ for a used set of C4 fab sliders. Carmax won't care about the sliders. The other stuff might not be worth parting off the vehicle

I did the same thing when I sold my 2016 SR5 two weeks ago. I then went to a Toyota dealership. They have me $500 over Carmax. It’s ultimately how much time you have to sell. If you want the max, then throw it on the market and see how it goes. $33K is not a bad offer IMO.

Great time to sell almost anything. Bad time to be a buyer especially house or vehicle. If you need money then it's a great time to sell. After the housing bubble you couldn't give stuff away much less sell it.

I sold my 2020 orp and bought a clean 02 sport with the money the dealership paid me and still had 1500 left over.

No more car payment and back into a 3rd Gen which I like way more.
