Need Help, Front Diff Leaking at split?!?

Okay i've searched this a bunch of different ways can't find any answers.

My front diff is leaking where the diff splits. Not at the input shaft like others have posted.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I talked to a shop recently and they suggested a transmission shop, and the service manager (a friend) said it might be cheaper to just replace the whole diff than drop it and split it open.

Its not a massive leak, but it seems to be getting worse.

How bad is the leak? Mine seemed to seep from that joint a bit, then after I changed the fluid it stopped. Not much help but if its just seeping, maybe change the gear oil and check up on how it holds up

Thanks buddy, yeah I don't think that would fix it.

I've ALMOST considered putting some of that stop leak crap in there. But I don't know how awful of an idea that would be.

Yeah I think I just got really lucky, or itll all blow at once later, but thats future me's problem. Idk about the stop leak, not sure why it wouldn't work, but it still doesnt feel right

Is there any how to threads on swapping front gears? I mean, minus replacing the gears, thats pretty much what I have to do right?

Check the tightness of the bolts. Just a little snugging up the bolts might stop the seaping gasket.

Last night I pulled my ski plate and cleaned all the residual grease and dirt off the diff. I'm trying to pin point the source of the leak.

Its raining today, so its tough to hunt down.

Clean the pumpkin real good with brake cleaner and tape a single layer of paper towels around it, like a diaper. It it's leaking, you'll see where the next morning.

I cleaned it and it appears the leak is coming from the top, maybe from around the bolts at the 10 and 12 o'clock position if you look at it from the Drivers side.

I'm wondering if, during some offroad adventures, my RCI skid was pushed up by a rock, pushing the diff up, putting stress on the top of the seal.

I'm going to try and tighten the bolts and see if that helps.

Make sure the diff breather hose didn't pop off
