Need help identifying this sound....

Well, my T4R performed like a champ the past few days in Flagstaff during my elk hunt. Snow and mud did not faze it, but I did have a "What the hell was that?" moment.

Vehicle sits level and there is no sagging or anything to indicate a broken suspension part. After I got to smoother roads, it did not make a sound.

At the time of the vid, it was heavily loaded and I was going over some rough terrain.

Thats an easy one, and not uncommon when offroading. Just mud, rocks, possible ice (this time of year) getting stuck in your rotors. Driving through mud will put a film on rotors, but it goes away very shortly once on smooth road.

The noise did not fit the performance of the truck so I was only a little worried, but it's good to know it was nothing serious.

I'll file this bit of info away for my next trip when in conditions like these.

I agree, probably a rock in your rotor.
When this happens to me, I reverse direction and pump the brakes trying to dislodge the rock.
If it lasts too long I inspect the rotors to see if its worn a groove.

Yup, this just happened to me a few weeks ago. Normally a few sharp pumps of the brakes will crush whatever small stone or item has lodged itself in the rotor and then work it's way out. It is a little unnerving though especially if you are out in the boonies!

Ha, that's funny because my Nissan Altima (shares a lot of parts with the Maxima) has done it a few times too. Always though it was odd that a sedan would be catching rocks in the brakes.

I was driving along a long gravel driveway and could hear the pieces of gravel being tossed up in the wheel wells. It was pretty easy to figure out that a piece got caught in the brake on the front passenger side.
