NEED HELP Locating Transmission

Hello, like the title says.

I need help locating a 2001 4Runner 4x4 Automatic Transmission for a project i bought.

Seems no one locally has it and Ebay sellers are on Crack!!

so if anyone has a lead on this please send them my way.

I can set up transportation etc. if the price is right

Same year jeep cherokees had the T4R transmission. any of those around?

Never known they had the same tranny.. I shall ask my guy if he can find one

I don't know what Jeeps part number was, but if I'm not mistaken it is the same as the toyota A340E/F

I've heard something similar to this through random conversations but never looked into if that was actually the true or not.

01-02 transmissions are known to suffer from planetary gear failures more often than the earlier variants, which is why the move quicker from yards and fetch a premium.

For nationwide used (not rebuilt) availability and some general info on prices, this is a good place to start. There is a button to check interchange possibilities.

You could also look into a 2wd transmission as well.

The A340E (2wd) and the A340F (4wd) are the same thing; just install the transfer case in place of the longer 2wd output shaft, then swap the filter and pan over.

If you're willing/capable of this, your options increase drastically. That's twice as many 4Runners to look at which means you're more likely to find one locally, and with lower mileage as well.

Practically the same tranny - different housing won't work boooo

OP - I know you're not in Cali but in Sacramento there are a few dismantlers that have them readily available you should be able to snag for ~$400. Have them throw it on a pallet and ship it.
