I'm at work right now and I walked over to my truck (2000 4runner V6) and I hear this clicking nooise coming from under the hood. Mind you I just parked it 4 hours ago nothing was wrong. Hadn't touched it since.

I traced the noise to the fuse box, it just sounds like a solenoid clicking on and off, maybe 2 times/second. I went to see if I would start, as soon as I put the key in the clicking stopped but the ignition chime was erratic and not even a sign of life when I tried to start it. Pull the key out and a few seconds later the clicking started again.

I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, still clicks. This is WEIRD can anybody help me out? Otherwise im stranded at work this it JUST WHAT I NEED TODAY

Sounds like your starter is shot - they usually go bad about 130K miles for some reason.

Pretty sure it's not the starter. Nothing happens when I turn the key. The clicking is happening when it's just sitting there.

I'm hoping its simply a bad battery. I know its past due but Ive never had a problem til now. Its weird how it randomly started clicking though.

Hooked a charger up to it, we'll seeif that does anything.

I recently had this exact problem!

Parked, snowboarded for the day, come back to the same thing. I got a jump and I was off.

Had the same problem. I've a suspicion it had something to do with the back wiper. Still haven't traced the problem.

I disconnected the battery for about 20 mins and then hooked it back up. Clicking disappeared and hasn't come back since. The truck starts every time and I've just been too busy to trace the problem. It hasn't come back so I'll leave it for now. Give it a shot worked for me.

Well the wiper all of a sudden stopped working over the winter and the rear tailgate light quit about the same time. Shortly afterward I had the problem pop up. It was the light relay that was clicking. Before all of this the truck was running fine and everything was working fine. It was only after this happened that the truck wouldn't start and the relay was clicking. I'm not sure it's causing the problem but if not it's just very coincidental.

Had the same problem this morning. Mine was a lose battery terminal, seems like its on tight but still has play on it. Guess I'll have to replace it.

I've dealt with this issue as well. As far as I can tell, it is due to a loose battery connection at one of the terminals. Figure out a way to tighten it up, and my guess is that it solves your problem.
