NEED HELP Stolen key fob

ok my problem is my key fob broke of my key ring i set it in my room came home from work it was gone. How wierd roomate claims it wasnt him but i dont believ him my question is this......
i want to disable the key fob i reset the programming on the the car itself so will it disable the old key fob? or is the old key fob still still synced to my car? online it said to disable old key fobs stop at a certain point which i did but like i said do thwey have to be within distance to have there programming erased?
im an electrician so im nervous im gonna go outside and find my tools miSsing one morning PLEASE HELP!!!!

Got a cat? I "lost" a set of keys for 3 weeks once. Ended up finding them in a pair of shoes deep in my closet. The night I lost them I was buzzed and played a game of torment the kitty...... It added up.

On another note it's probably cheaper to go to your local stereo shop and have an alarm installed. Those fobs aren't cheap.

This post has a link for a 2002 4Runner fob program and looking at Step 4 C:

C. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF once to program remote while retaining the orginal remote codes. Twice to erase all orginal codes and add new remote. Three times to check how many remotes are programmed or five times to erase all original codes.

If you have to buy a new fob, make sure and check the FCC codes. Hope this helps.

To keep everything safe for now you can always just pull the fuse for your power locks. Then even if he did steal the key fob, he won't be able to unlock your doors with it.

Now my curiosity is killing me, why do you live with someone that your don't trust and think is wierd???...And if you don't trust your roomate then why not buy a door handle that locks. There really easy to install and it will at least give you some piece of mind.

+1 on the fuse idea. I had an old Isuzu that I lost a key for, and after bring paranoid about it i decided to just pull the fuse for the starter every night when I got home. It was a pain in the ass, but I was pretty sure no one was going anywhere with it, even with the key!
