Hi All,
I've a 4runner 2004 RWD model built Feb 2004. I recently purchased this car and has around 110k miles on it.
Issue:
Every morning in cold start i.e. car was not driven for more than 10-12 hours and engine was cold. I feel and hear some loud noise coming out of engine bay and it could be felt with (severe vibration and roughness) even in the gas pedal when I start driving the car. When the engine temperature settles down to normal say after 1-2 miles drive or 7 minutes drive this problem seem to be not much persistent after that. I do feel certain level of vibration in gas pedal acceleration through out but that is not much. The cold start and drive vibration and noise are something that are making me curious.
- There's no leakage I've inspected under body and throughly tried to look at engine bay.
- Coolant level seems to be fine and does not seem to show any alarming decline.
- 4runner does not heats up abnormally and the engine temperature needle shows spot in middle when its normal
- The acceleration seems to be fine but in cold start and immediate acceleration due to severe vibration in gas pedal I feel weird, its even worse than a diesel truck.
- The gas mileage seems to be consistent 15.5-17 in city and 23-25.5 on freeways
But this cold start in morning with vibration and noise is making me nervous to the kind of repairs it could need.
Any tips/suggestion to diagnose it would be appreciated.
