Need Help With Badges

Hey guys, I'm painting all my badges black because currently I've got the gold Mr. T package on my Desert Dune '97 Limited. I was walking around my 4runner cleaning her off when I realized the license plate..surrounding..thing haha is a dark grey with a huge gold badge reading "4runner". What should I paint that? the surround is faded and chipping so it needs to be painted..what colors should I do there?

I would say Repaint it black also, or color match it, OR just use Plasti-Dip is what I did.

Also, I would suggest relocating the "4Runner" Badge to a better location but that's just my opinion! :]

Try to find the threads where people mimic the "Black Pearl" emblems. I saw them in person for the first time yesterday and I am very envious... I will be mimicking them soon.

So you say, go on and paint the badges black and match the plate with the badges and just move that big 4runner badge to somewhere else?

I can't really think of another place..So I guess just put it away for the time being? Unless you have a suggestion?

Still looking for a mimic thread but I just looked at the real ones..what would be the difference of those to normal black? Shiny look as opposed to a cheap dull black?

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Looks way better! Hmmm..The actual badges in that color are like 200 bucks! :jaw drop: I can't really find a thread by searching.. Is there a way to come about that using paint?

That's actually really simple. I'll have to see what I can do! What are your thoughts on the license plate fascia and the big 4runner emblem on it? I don't think black on black would look good at all so I guess remove the badge..or is there another color suggestion?

the front badge is hard to keep nice, it takes a lot of abuse from the road debris. Mine has still held up pretty good with only needing the occasional touch up

but you cant buy the badges anymore from the dealership. i found some in my local classifieds a while back and snatched them up, but later found out that the front one would not fit.

Autozone sells a black shadow paint that looks like the black chrome if you do it right.
