need some 4runner advice

[4x4.Runner]

so im looking to buy a 4runner around $3500. For that im probly lookin at at 94-98 4x4. What type of mechanical issues should i look for.

I found this one on craigslist for $3200. The picture with the rust underneath caught my eye how much damage could this rust cause or how could I fix it?

any help would be appreciated

Depends on if it's just surface rust or if it goes deep.

I purchased my vehicle from up North (PA) and it is rusty. If you are going to Mod it or maintain it yourself it will be more time consuming and a lot more $. It took me over a day to replace my front suspension due to rusty bolts. If you can't visually inspect it and touch the undercarriage then don't buy it.

thanks for all the help :thumb: im gonna go take a look at it in person as long as its not too far gone ill get some rust remover and a saturday scrubing it out

As someone who has only owned rusty vehicles, if you can get a truck without rust do it. Rust is horrible and every time you have to touch a bolt on the undercarriage you'll hate it.

The rust in the pictures isn't horrible (actually good where I come from for a 10+ year old vehicle) but being near the southern states you should be able to find a rust free one if you keep searching.
