Need some advice!

werent you gonna do a SAS to the 1st gen? if you want comfort on the trails, go coil over, linked front and rear. other than that, 1st or 3rd gen, wheeling is not a comfort sport lol
 
I see no reason to sell a perfectly stuffed 4Runner.

We had an excellent day at Eagle Rock. Both of our rigs made it all the way through without too much of an issue. There was only one spot that brought a real challenge and that was only because the climb had a mix of loose dirt and rocks so traction was limited.

Overall it was another great day of wheeling! Gotta love Colorado!!!!!! :trophy:

That was far from what we were really doing when wheeling. I just saw a good opportunity to get a nice poser flex pic. Heck, that pic was with me in 2wd and not even fighting for traction.

As FoG said, we don't really need any excuse to go wheeling. The opportunity just happened to be there so we took it. Oh, we're taking another opportunity tomorrow too :D

As for getting rid of my 1st gen, I'm not 100% convinced either way yet. I am going to pretty up my interior and do some sound deadening. I'll throw in some sound deadening on the floors, firewall and the rear quarters. I will also clean up the rear quarter interior panels and re-install those. I'm thinking of dying all of my interior black and getting some black carpet. I'll eventually either get some black seats or get my seats re-upholstered with new padding and black cloth. I have never seen a 1st gen with black interior so this will be a fun project.
 
Man, you wouldn't believe all the guys I know on here who have regretted selling their T4R (regardless of generation) - especially after all the work and love they've put into them...

Personally, I'd hang on to your 1st gen and save for a newer one... That would be me.
 
I keep going back and forth. I keep leaning towards getting rid of it for something newer, more modern drive train and a more comfortable DD.

If you can swing it, keep it. And buy a 3rd Gen as a DD AND leave it stock. 3rd Gens are awesome, they do everything well. But, 1st Gens make great toys. (hence my WTT for a 1st Gen thread). I'm only looking for one because I'll still have my 3rd Gen DD. And your toy is already well built so you're further ahead of the game then I would be.

Why lose $5K selling yours just to spend another $5K building a 3rd? Keep your trail toy and take that $5K you would spend on a build to buy a nice 3rd Gen to DD.
