new 16" toyota wheels

was looking for new 4runner wheels in craigslist and found some a few hours away from me,but i was wondering if the stock tires I have on my 4runner will fit the new 16" wheels.He says his wheels came off of a tacoma.he said the size was 16 inches in diameter and 7 inches wide and im wondering if my 265/70-16 tires will fit those rims.

All stock wheels for the 4Runner are 7" wide, whether they are 15" diameter or 16" diameter wheels. As long as you currently have 16" wheels, those tires will fit just fine. 265/70-16 is the stock tire size for both the 4Runner and the Tacoma.

The only thing you might run into is that the Tacoma wheels may have less backspacing than your current wheels. You should also post up a pic of the wheels you're looking at so people can do a better job of answering any other questions you have.

You're 265/70r16's will fit on those just fine. Don't quote me on this, but I think those wheels have the same backspacing as stock t4r wheels... about 4.625" so it'll pretty much be an apples to apples swap.

BUT... I'm not sure if I'd pay $160 for the set. That's not an outrageous price, but you could probably get him to come off of that a little bit. There's not a real high demand for those wheels compared to the alloys.

hey big,was wondering what the difference is between the steels and the alloys?All steelies I had in the past Were black with the holes in it,they never looked like those rims im looking to buy

I haven't weighed the two side by side, but usually the steel wheels are heavier (not enough to make a difference that you'll notice on a 4Runner), can be harder to balance, and in my opinion they just don't have as much "substance" to them, so they're not as appealing to look at.

The only difference between these and the black ones you're thiking of is the design and the paint.

Why do you want new wheels? What's on there now?

got 16" steels on there now.they are getting pretty rusty tho so i was gonna keep them for the winter time and use the new ones when theres no snow on the ground.

Sounds like a good reason to me. You might consider holding out for some alloys though, that way you'll never have to worry about rusty wheels again.

hey,i was wondering if i was pulling the trigger to early but its been 4 months and this is the only decent set of 16" yota rims i could find in my area.I think im starting to loose steam so im gonna end up pulling the trigger.hopefully keeping them off for the winter will keep the rust away

ya he doesnt have the lug nuts or center caps so I offered him 130.00.Do I have to be specific with what center cap to buy or can i just buy any center caps that fits a tacoma from 96-2000?

I'd imagine you can just re-use your existing lugnuts... about the center caps though, from the looks of it, those wheels are going to require a specific center cap. You can see the wheel has a contours on the face that the center cap will match up to.

I'm not 100% sure about that though, hopefully somebody who has/used to have these wheels will chime in and get you a definite answer.

ok so he agreed to 130.00$ plus he is going to meet me off the thruway exit so I can just jump right back on the road.The lug nuts I have now are really rusty and a member of this forum,my buddy hepar,sent me 24 like new lug nuts but usps lost 4 of them I have to pick a few more up.The center caps I have now are pretty rusted too so i wont want to reuse my current ones.there seems to be 100 different center caps on ebay so anyone with some information regarding that would be a great help

97 on a 91 4 runner

Have 15s, rustys on my 91 4 runner, found some 15s off a 97 tacoma ? Will they fit? any one have some insight??
