New 24' Limited - Must / Should Do's ?

I recently upgraded to a 24' Limited and was curious if there are any must / should do's.

I saw on the Reddit 4R group someone recommended a screen protector for the infotainment display, which never thought of so bought this one:
Amazon.com Worked perfectly and I like the gloss vs the matte appearance as well now (even though there is a bit more glare).

I have screen protectors on ALL of my other electronics (GoPro's, Camera's, Phones, anything with a display).

It made me think if I missed out on this 'simple' item, what else am I not thinking of doing?

Planning to have it Waxoyl'ed in a couple weeks after having frame rot issues with my last 4R.

My last 4R had a fair amount of chips right on the front of the hood. Do many people here run the PPF? Is it DIY or best to have a professional install?

I planned to change the tires to start as my last 4R can with the dun-flop H/T's but this one came with the Yokohoma Geolander G96B's - which seem to be a mix of A/T & H/T so I am torn what to do.

If I replaced them I was going to go with the Firestone Destination A/T2's.

It came with the all weather floor and cargo liner, trying to decided if it is worth it for the Weathertech ones I had in my last though.

must do's

- GET OUT AND DRIVE IT . get it on the road. take it on some trails, road trips. sight seeing. canoeing. whatever it is you wanna do. do it! these vehicles are meant to put in work, be out on the trail
- get a good wax/car wash routine. I only ever wash/wax 2x a year. winter and fall. that's all I really think you need for exterior paint
- get a touch up paint pen. if you look at the 4runner the wrong way the paint will chip!
- fluid film the pinch welds in the doors , door edges, hood edges and liftgate edges

good to do's

- I always put michelin tires on my rigs. so swap for your desired tire. if you plan on doing road / trail then I suggest michelin defenders M+S. excellent combo tire
- PPF on the hood. zero stone chips on my hood and side mirrors. PPF is well worth it. no yellowing or peeling after 12 years!
- good floor mats, and I suggest a centre console cover as extra elbow support. I got one from amazon from kmmotors. one of my favorite additions
- seat covers for second row and the hammock for the trunk
- set of crossbars if you load stuff

It is best to have PPF professionally installed. It is really hard to get it installed without bubbles. Be sure to use either 3M or Xpel. They are the best. Fortunately, my dealer has a guy that does a super job on their PPF install.

I’ve only had the OEM Geolander G96b’s on my 2010 Limited, several sets, so I can’t comment about how they compare with the Michelins or anything else, but I can say they’ve performed flawlessly at speeds up to 100 on the highway, on sandy beaches when aired down, on dirt roads, or on snowy and icy roads and trails

I’d certainly wear out that first set before trying something else unless you’re in need of true snow tires or will be doing some serious wheeling and rock climbing. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how well they do in the snow, I’ve thought about getting a set of Blizzaks for the winter but I’ve never come even close to having an issue that would make me pull that trigger. Even though heavy and icy Vermont blizzards

Since I'm not a fan of subscription stuff, I got a stand alone, portable Garmin GPS. I get free updates and can move it to any vehicle. I've used it on several trips and it works great. So, when the free trial infotainment stuff on my 2013 SR5 expired, I didn't renew any of it. If you travel a lot - I suggest doing this.

IMO, a navigation program on a smart phone (Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, etc) is better than Garmin because:
1. Maps is displayed on the car radio screen and verbal instructions over the car speakers via CarPlay/Android Auto
2. The updates are free, automatic, and instant. (They opened an brand new highway near me, and the update on Google Maps was there the very next day).
3. Those apps are completely free, no hardware to buy, no subscription.
4. Most of those apps will show traffic and route you around problems.

Congrats on your purchase! I really like my tux mats. Pros: look great, best overall coverage, easy to clean without removing. Cons: they show dirt/salt easily, no deep channels/grooves like other all-weather mats to help hold moisture, so you clean them more often to keep them looking good.
