New 3rd gen owner

Well, almost. I put the deposit down, hopefully take possession tomorrow, holidays make big purchases tough.

It's a 1996 SR5 with the 2.7L 4cyl, 5 spd manual, body is in great condition, couldn't find any rust which was a big shock considering it rains more than it shines here on the island. Interior needs a clean but no tears/stains. Body is mint condition though I'm not a huge fan of the bumper on it.

Here she be:

after a test drive it seems it needs new shocks, new brakes soonish ~6months and there is a little oil leaking right above the oil filter.
It drove great, went straight on the highway, up to 100kph no issues.

I am paying $4000 CDN for it, am I getting hosed or is that a decent price?

How many km's on it?

It seems like a pretty good price for a 3rd gen, I don't see them for that price around here and most are rusty by now. From what I've seen of the island it's almost like a time warp there so I'm guessing it's in good shape rust-wise.

hah, of course I'd forget one of the most important facts
It's got 226,000 KM's on it. 3000KM's on the new clutch.

I am sure there HAS to be some rust, we just couldn't see it. None on the tow hitch, rear axle, even all the wheel wells were clean and we felt around instead of looking. I've really never seen one without some level of rust.

It looks like it was ski / sport machine as the roof rack has some damage and the tow hitch has seen good use so they must have been up mt. Washington a few times.

I hate buying a used vehicle and not being able to take it home as mine! I had to put down the deposit on boxing day because the damn things go like hot cakes here on the island but no insurance places or banks are open to complete the sale.
