New 4Runner owner with question........

Hello all, just bought a 2005 4 Runner yesterday I have been lusting for a 4 Runner ever since the 4h Gen came out in 2003. After 9 years of financial ups and downs I was finally able to buy one . I am absolutely thrilled as it is everything I dreamed it would be.

I do have one complaint though and it is not a huge deal and I can live with it. However, it seems like it is loud. Meaning there seems to be alot of wind / tire noise even with the sunroof and windows closed. Is this common for 4th Gen 4 Runners. Again, not a huge deal , just curious if it is just my 4 Runner or is this a common trait in all 4th Gens. Any input appreciated.......

can't wait to go camping and tailgating with it ( i do alot of both)

Also, the ride is a bit rough compared to my 2005 Camry but i knew that would be the case going in so no biggie

Check out your suspension. My '06 is extremely smooth and very quiet. What trim do you have? If you have XREAS there's a better chance that it's going out. Post some pics and welcome to the forum!

It is the SR5.........I am embarrased to say this but i dont know if it has XRAES because i dont even know what that is ???

If it's an SR5 you don't have XREAS. It was standard on the Sport Editions and an option on the Limited's.

Regarding the noise - it's going to be more noisy than the Camry. It just is. But it certainly could be a worn suspension, bad alignment or it might just be the kind of tires you have. How many miles and what kind of tires? What shape are the tires in? Any idea when they were last balanced?

I will have to check on the tire information.........maybe nothing is wrong at all and I am just used to the quiet ride of a Camry.

My 04 is and always has been quiet. Guess it is relative but we also don't have the such roof. The 4Runner'is also a good bit quieter than my 12 FJ.
