New 4Runner Owner

Hi,
This is my first post... I just bought a 2015 4Runner and the salesman said to bring it back in for a free oil change at 10k miles. Well, I was thinking about paying and having it done earlier at 2 or 3k miles. I know it has synthetic, but I feel I should go ahead do this... Should I save my money? Or, should I get it changed?

If you think 10k is too long, have someone do it at 5k then let the dealer do it at 10k for free.

Wow 10k miles! Max I would do it 10k kms between oil changes, maybe alittle sooner on a new engine but I wouldn't worry too much about it unless your driving it like you stole it. The engine in a modern car is pretty much broken in by the time it gets to you.

fourwd1 idea is probably what I would do. I'd maybe go buy at Toyota filter so when you get your first dealership oil change there not curious. The dealer might even just do the free oil change early if you request.

I know when I bought my 04 new off the lot, they say do the first change at 1k, then at
5k then your normal 5k intervals.

The dealer ought to do whatever you want. If you want your oil changed at 5K just schedule it. That's what my dealer told me. I don't have but 3K on my truck after 6 months but I could bring my truck in for whatever service I ask for.

Welcome to our club, from another Texan! I would get it done sooner than 10k. I agree with fourwd1: get it changed at 5k, then go to the dealer for your freebie at 10k.

You bought a $40k 4runner and are worried about spending a few bucks to get the oil changed earlier? On the other hand, the dealer is a cheap ass as well.
