New 4Runner vs New Tundra? Which one?

I know... I really do need to decide what I want. GM has introduced some more aggressive rebates on the new trucks...But they are very long limited in configuration and options to get the good pricing. The Tundra still costs about the same and for the same amount of money I should buy the Toyota.

wow that Denali looks very sharp,we switched over from years of Tahoes to a 2013 4Runner Limited last year and so far,we like it...its definitely not a Tahoe LTZ but it didn't cost as much either and the MPG is easier on the wallet....as far a GM quality goes, I currently still have an 07 Express van with 250,000 miles that runs like day 1 and has never leaked or used a single drop of oil or given me any problems so I cant say anything bad about GM except that me being self employed for some reason they wanted to hassle me about financing after paying off 10-12 vehicles in the past 25 years

Every 3 years when trade in time rolls around I have the same discussion with myself, and can never justify owning a pickup. Go test drive a 14'LE in BP, it has a lot of improvements with the refresh, and worth dropping the 40K+.

You actually might have just had an impact on me. I am going to wait another year to year and a half. I am thinking of going crazy with another Blizzard Pearl Limited 4WD with the redwood interior. If I do that I will have two T4R's to drive into the ground... Let's face it I like the Limited better and love BP along with the new redwood interior... I will keep everyone updated. I just need to sit tight wait and save!

I'm a Toyota guy, but I'd NEVER buy any of Toyota's full sized trucks or SUVs.

They're crap compared to GM.

If you want a big boy truck, get a Silverado or a Sierra. If you want a big boy SUV, get something based on the Tahoe or Suburban (a 'burban might be in my future when the next baby comes).

The Tundra has always been catching up to GM.

I love me some full-size GMT goodness, but have you seen the new Tahoe/Suburban? The Runner may be awkward but the Hoe is unbearable.

I'm not a fan of base models for this reason. The wheels of the LTZ make it look much better/reduce the awkwardness.

Which makes this one hard choice - once the new TRD Pro packages come up it could help make my decision much easier. Depending on pricing and configuration/availability.

the new TRD Pro packages will certainly make your decision easier—by eliminating the TRD Pro from your choices. they'll almost certainly be priced north of your budget and likely more rare than hen's teeth.

I have both. My wife drives a 13 TE 4Runner and I drive a 14 Tundra Crew Max Limited 4X4 with the TRD package. They are both great vehicles. If you need "dry" storage then you could always get a bed cover. My tailgate has a lock and if you got a water tight cover you would be good to go. My Tundra is a much smoother ride than her 4R and the power between the two is night and day. I LOVE my Tundra. And it has more rear seat leg room than any other truck I've seen next to the Dodge Mega Cab. That said, her 4 Runner gets better gas mileage and it will actually fit in the garage. So there's that. But personally I like driving a full size truck. It just "feels" better to me and I like the power of the 5.7 It may not be "necessary" but it makes me smile when I mash the gas. lol
