New Cup Holder Inserts? Stock Ones Are Too Grippy

I feel ridiculous for posting this complaint, but the cup holder inserts are so grippy that they always get pulled out by anything that's even remotely a tight fit. It's one of life's annoyances that doesn't need to exist.

Has anyone modded theirs in a way to make them less grippy? Or does anyone sell plastic aftermarket ones? Otherwise, i'll just duct tape the insert to my klean kanteen since it's always stuck on it anyway!

I put in some coasters in and they help a lot. Not sure if it is pushing the cup up just enough to help it not stick.

Used these off Amazon.

Put double side tape on them and stuck them in the cup holder insert. No more issues with the Yeti pulling out the insert (been in since March).

What I usually do is put the thicker cups in the cup holder nearest to the center console. It has that little extension piece that you can just twist and wiggle a bit and that'll release the insert from the water vessel. I agree the front most cup holder will just stick to a thicker bottle. The other and most economical thing to do is just to put a little velcro or 3M command strips to the underside of the insert so that it doesn't lift up with the bottle. I'd try that first.

So the AdditiveInnovation3D ones still pull out with my beverage in my experience unless I twist first to break the suction/seal. I just got them and I love the idea/look...a little expensive for what they are though. I have not tried the velcro/double-sided trick yet though which may make them perfect.

In the (almost) year that I've had my 4runner the drink occasionally pulls out the insert.
I set the inset in the console until I finish that bladder-buster drink then put the insert back when I stumble across it 2 weeks later, lol.

You can try poking a few holes from the top down.. maybe keep from a vacuum seal when you slide the item in the holder

Now that you mention this, I'm similarly annoyed by how grippy the are. May just have to design some up and print them out of PETG or TPU (still flexible, but not grippy). If I do, I'll post up the STL file.

Really handy stuff for all sorts of things.

I got mine in rather quickly after ordering. Good quality hard plastic so cups don't get stuck and about the same thickness as the rubber stock ones. Two thumbs up.
