New Dynapros, yo! 265/75/16

:banana: Finally took the step up to 265/75/16 - Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10. I've had stock-size 265/70/16 Bridgestones on for 12 years and it was time for a change. $155/tire at Discount Tire, not including mounting, lifetime balance, and replacement certs.

I've only driven a few miles on them but so far so good, and they are doggy approved. There's a slight shake at ~68mph, but I'm due for an alignment anyway so I'm going to get that done and see how it feels, and if I still feel like the balance is off, I'll run back by DT.

The cool thing is that my speedometer is almost right on with my GPS, with the GPS showing no more than 1mph higher. Before, on my stock size, GPS would show 1-2mph lower than my speedo.

I'll report back after alignment, once they have a few miles on them, and after the next good rain.

What year is yours? Most people say 265/75/16 is the largest you can go with stock but will work fine. A few have had very minor rubbing. I think '02 was the shortest 3rd gen, but not sure.

I bought my tires at Discount Tire as well. To get rid of the steering wheel shake they need to use a finger plate adapter. If you ask them to use it they will know what it is but will tell you it's not nesessary. It is necessary to balance Toyota wheels but most tire shops do not know this. Try to kindly ask them to use it and your tires will balanced correctly and the sterring wheel shake will disappear.

Hankook is a good tire IMO that does not get a lot of face time.

The pups look stoked to go for a ride.

Nice, I like discount. For a tire shop they are usually the cheapest, will price match and patch tires for free, even if you didnt buy them there.

Nice! I have a set on my 99. They are 265/70/16 though. Should have gone with 75. I've had my set roughly around 15k and they've been great.

Ha, yeah. He is a very sensitive dog. He was a rescue. Very gentle and great with kids, but sensitive. I was trying to get him to stay right there and not move and I think he thought I was getting onto him.

UPDATE: Two of the Dynapros are defective. One is way wobbly, another is just kinda wobbly. Discount Tire is ordering two new ones, but they are currently backordered and may take a week or so to come in. I haven't felt like they were balanced right since they were put on last week. I had an alignment done late last week to rule that out. I ran it into DT today to have them do a balance check and they confirmed what I was feeling.

Had the same issue with one of mine

the thing was out of round making the whole rear end of my truck shake under braking. Hankook took care of it and now all's fine.

The Dynapros are no mo'

Well, the Dynapros are no mo'. As I mentioned above, two of them were defective, one pretty badly so. Driving was very uncomfortable because it just felt like my tires were way out of balance. The plan was to just replace those two and be happy. Unfortunately, Discount Tire couldn't get them, as they were on national backorder. After two weeks with no movement, and with no clear idea of when they would come in, I couldn't wait any longer. I had DT swap them for Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2s, the tires I had for 10 years prior, except that I kept them in 265/75/16.

I never disliked the Bridgestones, they're great tires. I just thought I would try something new with Hankook. The Dynapros are probably good tires, too, and they look great, I just had an unfortunate experience.

Here they are. The dogs approve because it's all nice and smooth now.

The pups look happier, possibly because the south is getting one heck of a heat wave at the moment.

My experience with 10,000 miles under the Revo 2 is that it is a good on road tire excluding a rather soft sidewall if you got them P rated as I did. Good in snow and rain as well.

The bad: not as good as its predecessor, picks up every small stone out there, and can making off roading an adventure and then some in mud.

the same thing. Have the dynapros on my 00' now and had revos on a 98 and liked um alot.
