Hey everyone-
Glad to be here. Just found the site today and it looks like a winner. I'm a big BMW fan and member of many BMW forums, and let me tell you- this forum rocks.

Why I'm here-
I need a tow vehicle for my '87 325 iS (e30) so I can to take it to different road tracks around the SE (plus replacement daily drive for the Mazda MPV:bravo. The wife and I discussed our options and the T4R was the clear winner. Now the fun begins- the search and siezure. Looking for 06-09 V8. I'll be rummaging through the many threads to learn as much as I can about these vehicles as I've never owned a T4R before. I will try to do as much maintenance on the vehicle as I can- I was happy to learn today that I will only have to replace my timing belt every 90k as opposed to the 50k interval on the 325.

I have an '07 SR5 4x4. Of all the things that I wish (and will eventually be doing the '03-'07 mod of) is the VSC "Trac off" option. If you are serious about your off-road ventures, and plan on finding your way into a mud pit, you will want the ability to turn off your traction control and auto engine throttle setting, so when all corners begin to slip, the truck doesn't automatically kill the power thinking that you are accidentally sliding on the highway. The '03-'07
4th gen T4R does not come with the kill switch for this. Instead, in 4wd while trying to power through the mud, the engine will throttle down and the ABS will become active trying to prevent you from slipping. This is exactly what you don't want to happen in this situation. The '08-'09 come with a switch that kills the system, which allows you to send maximum acceleration to the 4 corners regardless of slippage. If I could afford to upgrade to an 08-09, I would.
