Hello everyone my name is mike, my wife an I recently acquired a white 04 4runner SR5 with 100k and completely stock. I'll be honest, I know jack when it comes to these trucks although They've always been one of my top favorites among SUVs. The last cool truck I owned and planned to modify was one of the last XJs ever made (as the dealer told me when I purchased it new in 02). I loved it's off road capability as it was a stock one with Classic trim package. I was building imports before I purchased it and wanted to get out of that scene as it was getting to "fast and furious" . Anyhow it was stolen within 30 days and never recovered. Insurance paid more then my purchase price and I went on to buy a new 02wrx and got sucked back in to the import scene once again but with a much cooler car. Unfortunately at the time I was too immature and boost hungry for my own good and mildy built it to a mid 12 second capable car. It was such a blast to
Drive that I almost lost my lisc with a year. So it went back to stock and sold. For the last ten years I've been riding Harley's and driving beaters with brief exception of owning a 76 scout for a few months that i never drove and quickly (and regrettably)sold. The last 10 years have been filled with bike wrecks, broken bones and surgeries so now I'm just sticking to wrenching on em and will be buying a used STI sometime in the near future to keep my 4runner company. For now I'd like to learn more about this vehicle and my options for upgrades. I have a wife and 3 yr old son and would like to make this a fun family adventure vehicle that we can take camping and off road as well as a daily driver. Im interested in suspension as this thing looks funny to me at its stock height. I did just upgrade the tires from what I got with it to some meatier hankook 265/70/17. It looks better but a lift is a must and maybe other new suspension as the truck has a slight lean it seems although driving the stock suspension seems fine still. I'm also interested in CAI or if I can find the right deal a TRD supercharger would be a plus but as gas mileage is already avg 16mpg I'm not sure about the supercharger. Other then that some aesthetic changes would be nice to toughen up the look since it is white and plain looking. Maybe a brush guard and plastidip the wheels black. I don't wanna get too crazy with the exterior and would mainly like function over fashion tips but welcome any advice that has class. Driving this truck in our recent bad snowstorm has really pushed my inspiration with this vehicle. Living in a city where imports are frowned upon I got a lot of kicks trucking through the snow without a hiccup as most SUVs on the road were *****footing and getting stuck. (Funny side note on that is I helped a guy with a ford explorer out and made the comment that they shouldn't call a vehicle that gets caught in a foot of snow an explorer.. I thought it was funny, him not so much.) anyhow , I look forward to learning from you all and I apologize for the novel length intro but now you know who I am. Please feel free to offer advice, tips, concerns, (vehicle )warnings, and if your selling something cool for my truck I'm interested. Good day everyone!
