Hey I'm Chad from New Mexico. My wife and I each have our own car but since I work from home we tend to drive one more than the other (usually hers) since we are usually together and I'm looking to trade in her '13 Explorer Sport. I hate the car and so does she. We liked it at first and since then the more time we spend in it, the more it becomes uncomfortable and ugly. We have owned everything, literally. Financially it's stupid and I do plan to keep the 4Runner at least 3 years. I've never owned a car more than one year. I get tired of them and I'm an enthusiast. Unfortunately, I have to say both of our favorites was her/our '12 Grand Cherokee Overland. It was very quiet on the highway, an IIHS Top Safety Pick, it was comfortable and just all around good looking. It was purchased back by Chrysler and replaced with an identical one that had more problems, the second time we almost had to get a lawyer but Chrysler immediately purchased the car back and we were free. So as much as we like the Jeep, we are NEVER buying one again. This will be our first toyota, the only thing comparable in the family is my sister's RX350 FSport but I don't really love it although so far it's served her well compared to her Q7.
Anyways, we are shopping for a new Magnetic Gray Limited, 4x4 of course, and folding steps. I am not a fan of the fixed running boards and don't think some passengers would love it without any. Besides, power running boards are just cool. Our suburban had them and it looked sweet!
I don't really plan to mod the thing but you never know, it's contagious. And we decided on the 13 vs the 14 because we aren't loving the refresh, but I didn't love the 5th gen until about a month ago so maybe someday it'll grow on me.
I have a 14 mo old son who is absolutely amazing and I wouldn't trade the world for. And then we're expecting a beautiful baby girl in September. And thank goodness we have a name picked out already! I think that's about all there is to me, so hey and I look forward to owning a 4Runner and hanging around here.
