New here, new 4th Gen 4Runner - not new to Toyota

Hello fellow 4Runner enthusiasts!

Like the title says I am new to this forum and new to owning a 4th gen 4Runner, but I am not new to the world of Toyota. We just got a 2006 Sport V8 but this is my 4th Toyota. I had a 99 4Runner for a while, still have a 99 Solara for now and I've had an 89 4Runner for 10 years now and have done most of the mod's myself including a long travel suspension.

Here is our new 06 4Runner - only had it a few weeks but have already done alot of preventative maintenance things and had an 2.5" Bilstein shock/OME rear spring lift put on last week by my friends over at Sierra Expeditions in Mesa, AZ:





Trying to decide on what tire to put on it. This is my daily driver and will most likely only see minimal off road use to places for camping, hiking, mountain biking plus we do alot of long distance trips during the winter to go snowboarding, so a tire that handles well in snowy/icy conditions is a requirement. The 2 tires that have been recommened most to us are the Nitto Terra Grapplers and Goodyear Adventure AT's but I'm open to all suggestions. Does anyone have any input on those 2 tires or any other? My main concern is mpg's and noise - increasing one while decreasing the other

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my '07. I have only had it since January but I put the tires on it a couple weeks after I bought it. So far they have been great. I have taken it off road a few times with no issues. It handled tye snow we got here (Richmond,Va) with no issues. Granted the deepest was like 5 inches but they didnt slide, skid or nothing. It was like driving on a paved surface. They are not silent but they are pretty quiet I usually dont even notice any noise with my windows up. I got a defent deal for mine. Buy 3 get one "free" I bought 5 and paid for 4. $195.00 each out the door that included all the bullshit fees and such. 265/70/17 by the way. Almost rub free....only at full lock then just a little. My 4runner is bone stock...for nowm. Any wY I hope that helps. There are definately better tires out there but for the money I had to spend they were the best I could get at the time. I love them.

Damn. About your MPG concern. I dropped about 1MPG vs the stock tires that were on my truck when I bought it.

Thank you for your input! I will most likely stay with the factory size (265/65/17) to avoid the potential rubbing plus to attempt at keeping the speedo accurate. I like the look of the Terra Grappler and I hear they are on the quieter side . I was told they are quieter than the stock Bridgestones that I have now.
