Just bought my first 4Runner and just became a new member. It is a 2012 SR5 4WD. Has new Michelin AT2 tires. I go backpacking with my boys and we like to get into the backcountry. However, most of my driving is in town. I chose the 4Runner over a Jeep. The Jeep was of interest in part because of all the after market upgrades. But it didn't make sense for my family. With that in mind, any thoughts on the best basic upgrades for a 4Runner?
Thanks for your input. I look forward to being a part of the forum!

Any and all of them lol. Welcome to the forum. Check in the 5th gen section. You will probably get a better responce.

BackpackingDad, I recommend a nice Bilstein lift. That'll let you run a sightly bigger tires. Good quality and it should be affordable. But I would definitely ask this in the 5th-gen section. You will get plenty of eager members willing to help you out. Just be prepared for a little hate. They hate it when they assume newbies don't use the search feature. I recommend doing some research around here before posting lol
