Well this is going to be my wife's truck. We have a 2007 Saturn Vue paid off. But my parents lost their business in the recession and have been struggling to find work. My mom who is the only one with a steady job at a school cafeteria, drives a 1994 Buick that is falling apart (Even though it only has 80k miles on it). So we are giving the Vue to my parents.
We had a 1999 4Runner we put 200k on and traded it in a few years ago. Nothing major wrong with it- it was a great truck. So when we went shopping for a new mid-size SUV I gravitated to the 4Runner. 5th generation seem to big and 4th are awesome looking. My wife loved the GMC Acadia, but after I read her the Edmunds user reviews she decided against it. She just loved the interior and says Toyota are just not as luxurious as she wants. I convinced her to get a nice 4Runner and I would deck it out.
We ended up finding a BEAUTIFUL 2006 SR5 with only 55k miles on it. It was previously owned by an older gentlemen who garage kept it. The paint still has the orange peel look to it. Great shape and got it for a good deal. Only issue it has is some minor bumper damage done where he backed into a small tree/sapling.
So far I have had the following done:
- Added the bluetooth/phone controls to steering wheel. I had an installer add the audio equipment including an ASWC steering wheel control unit. He did not program it properly so these do not work yet. I need to get that fixed.
- New Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS head unit with backup camera and bluetooth mic. Also got the ARLiberator app (Arliberator - YouTube) which turns the head unit into a full on Android phone controller by unlocking the App Radio functions completely.
- New Polk Audio speakers in all 4 doors. I had to custom fabricate adapters since I bought 6.5's and 6x9 components are hard to come by.
- NVX Audio sound deadening in 3 doors. I ran out of deadening and ordered a little more for front passenger.
- Autopage c3-rs730 LCD remote starter and alarm. I currently am having issues with the remote starter. Looking to get that fixed.
Upcoming additions:
- Adding Clazzio Leather seat covers as well!
- LED lights for Map light, dome lights, and visor lights.
