Hi everyone! Yet another Jeff checking in as a new member. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and I own a 1996 Limited that I bought in 1998 when I lived in Denver, Colorado. It has been over a couple of passes in the Rockies, but most of its 146k miles were daily driving to and from work.
I bought a new car in 2008 and the 4Runner has been sitting in my driveway ever since then. I think the last time I started the engine was over 3 years ago. It needs some work before it can be driven. Needs new battery, battery cables an brakes just to get it going again. After that, probably a whole lot of things need to be done to put it back in good shape.
I finally got motivated last weekend and replaced the battery cables. I'll get the new battery and do the brakes this weekend. I've decided I want to make it my hunting vehicle, and maybe do some wheeling now and then. So I've done a lot of reading on this site in the last week. Great information source.
My plans are starting to take shape. I'm thinking about lifting it 3 inches, maybe 4, getting some tires more appropriate for wheeling and maybe 1 inch bigger, adding a winch, and of course front & rear bumpers. I kinda like the CBI hybrid bumpers with the rear swing away.
I'm sure more stuff will come up as I go along. I just hope I can stay motivated long enough to get me through all that work! Anyway, I sure appreciate all the information shared by the members here. As I go through the process of updating my 4Runner I'll share my experiences and hopefully it'll be of use to others on the site.
