Hi all,
First, a some background. I’m a long time lurker. I bought a 1999 4Runner SR5 in July and love it to death. The vehicle had a single owner and about 187,000 miles on it.
I’m taking my 4Runner into the shop to get some work done, but there’s a 2.5 week wait. I’ve decided that since it’s going in anyway I might as well have the shop install a lift kit.
I know very little about lift kits. I plan on taking it into the mud and some rough roads near the Oregon border, but most of the driving will be street and highway. No extra weight on the vehicle.
I’ve seen no indication the springs and shocks have been replaced in the last 187,000 miles, so I figure I might as well replace them. The ride is pretty bumpy.
I measured my truck from the bottom of the fenders to the center of the Toyota hub emblem. These are the numbers I came up with.
Front Driver side: 20.5”
Front Passenger side: 21”
Rear Driver side: 20.5”
Rear Passenger side: 20.75”
I’d actually like to keep it the same height, so my question is: if I order the OME lift kit from Toytec what exactly do I order?
Front Coils: OME 880 or 881?
Top Plate Spacers: Yes or No?
Front Assembly: (Planning on springing for this)
Rear Coils: OME 906 or 890?
Rear Shocks: 60073 (soft) or 60028 (med)?
Add rear stone guards: Planning on skipping these
Front drop differential kit: I don’t think I need this?
What I am mostly confused about is how to replicate the current lift of my vehicle with a new set of shocks/springs. My fender—>center hub measurements seem about ballpark for a 1999 4Runner.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
