I've been lurking around here for about a week now, basking in the glorious information the members around here have about their 4Runners. I'm Glenn, a soon to be owner of a 99 4Runner limited. My cousin made me a Godfather offer of his wife's former daily driven 4Runner with 200,000 very well maintained miles, all for $1500, despite it's KBB value of ~4500 from private sellers. They just want to get it out of their driveway and to a good home, so they approached me about it seeing if I knew anyone who'd be interested. For $1500, I couldn't turn it down since that's so far below the book value and on Craigslist and other sites these regularly go for $4000 and up in worse condition. So I look at this as a steal.
The only glaring issue is that the brakes need replacing soon. I'll check for rust, but I doubt that'd be an issue in Atlanta. Not sure whether or not the timing belt and water pump have been replaced yet, but for $1500, if they haven't, I'd be glad to replace both, as I'd still come out ahead. I also do not know whether the radiator has been replaced either, but I'm sure that after 200,000 miles most of this stuff would have been replaced. If not, I'll handle that. I can get a new radiator for about $150, or I can get a transmission cooler for cheaper. I'll assess the situation to determine the best course of action. I'll get the brakes changed immediately after I buy it, and also install this Pioneer aftermarket deck.
And I know, :worthless so I'll post pics after the purchase. Anything else I should take a look at before completing the final sale?
