New member, new T4R Owner, Darkness Mod Thread!

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I just purchased my first Toyota 4Runner on July 4th. 'MERICA! It's a 2015 black SR5 with black/slate cloth interior and navigation. Coming from a Jeep Commander, I couldn't be happier!

I've been lurking here for a couple weeks and can already tell this forum is going to be hard on the wallet. You guys have some gorgeous cars! Below are a couple of pictures of her the day I got her. I've since added 35% Llumar tint on the front two windows, scotch guarded the seats and got a Husky Cargo liner for the cargo area.

7/4/15 - Day I bought her

7/8/15 Tinted front windows with 35% Llumar and got a Husky Cargo Mat

Interior LED's are on their way, as are Husky liners for the front and rear.

My wish list right now is:
1. 17" TRD Black Rims
2. Compustar remote start with drone

Any reason you went with the Husky over Weathertech?

Hey. I mostly just read the comparison forums here and talked to friends who had both. For the cargo mat, I didn't have the third row or pull out tray and from what I gathered the Husky fit better and had a higher lip for if dirt, paint or groceries spill or leak.

For the front and second row, it seemed they were both great. The fit and finish looked a little sleeker on the Weather Techs, but from what I gathered they could be slippery and the Husky's were over all a little bit more functional. Plus while the cargo mat was similar in price, for the first and second row the Husky's were substantially cheaper. I just paid $140 for front and second row shipped 2 day air from Amazon.

I have WT front and rear passenger and Husky cargo. I found the WTs new on my local CL for $100 and the Husky liner on sale for like $100 shipped. I liked the Husky cargo coverage better and it's more rubbery so things slide less.

Can't go wrong for that price. My Husky front and 2nd row liners should be here Saturday so I'll post pics and thoughts. My interior LED light set from eBay was supposed to arrive today but didn't.. Still shows it's been in washington since two days ago :yell:

In other news, I think I'm going to name her "Darkness." Will be hunting for black rims soon!

7/10/15 Bringing some light into Darkness! Interior LED's came in!

Ok guys, my 18 LED set from eBay came in. I'm very impressed at the quality for $20. So far I only had a chance to install the two front map lights, the rear dome light and the two tailgate lights but they are bright! Looks much sharper than the factory bulbs and much brighter. The tailgate ones even illuminate the ground pretty damn well!

Here are some professionally taken iPhone 6 photos for now. I'll finish installing the lights in the doors and vanity mirrors and whip out the DSRL tonight!

I bought the 18 Piece set from that ebay link for around $20 shipped, it's for 2014/2015 only. Get the 13 piece set in the above post for 2010-2013. Edited to add, after reading through that thread it appears the 2010-2013 set might be a few bulbs short?

Then I got the set of tools he recommended from Amazon for a few bucks, then just watch this Youtube video and you're good to go!

18 Piece Ebay LED Set

Ok so I finished installing all the LED lights and they were great, for about 2 hours. I just hopped in my car and the front right map light is flickering. That's the only one that hasn't been perfect. :rant:

Here's a 10 second video showing the problem. Luckily they included some spare bulbs so I'll switch it out.

I switched out that flickering bulb with one of the spares and it seems to be fine now.

As promised, here are some better photos. All were taken in my garage with all lights off. No flash or any other light source. These things are BRIGHT. I love how the tailgate ones can light up the entire cargo area or when the lift gate is open they illuminate the ground all around! If you guys have any questions or want any specific pictures or angles just ask!

7/11/15 Added Front and Rear Husky Weather Beaters

Today I started bright and early by washing Darkness. Then this afternoon Fedex came with my front and rear husky liners. I'm very happy I went with these, they fit perfectly, have great coverage, and even use the factory plastic clips for the front to hold them in place!
