New Member want dual dirt bike carrier (HELP)

Hi all,
I would like to get the AMC-600-2 double motorcycle carrier for my 2001 4runner...just not sure if the tongue weight can handle it. I've only had my 4runner for a year and usually pull a trailer..but I'd prefer the dual carrier. Any ideas? What is the stock hitch class on my 4Runner? ClassIII? I have no idea.

i think tongue weight (max) is around 500lbs so two bikes will be pushing it

yes 500 is the max. let me know exactly what you go with. and how you like it because i want a single to carry my DR350s across country. Also you might want to think about getting load levelers aka suspension air bags that go inside the coil springs.

This doesn't apply to the stellar since he wants 2 bikes, but this is what I have and love it. I found one used on Craigslist for $150

i hear those are the Cadillac of bike carriers. but a little out of price range new. might have to keep my eyes out for those on CL

I have an aluminum one, I think it's the AMC 400, and have used it for an XT350. I didn't have my lift on at the time and it did ok. Not sure if the bouncing/movement was due to the original suspension (160k) or the bike was a bit much for the 4R.

Don't forget, the further out you move the weight from the backend, the more stress it puts on the tongue.

2 bikes will be a lot of weight on the back. I had one bike, gear inside, and a 4wheeler on a trailer and was sagged a good bit. Once I filled the cans and bike with gas it went down another inch or so. I am running superflex coils with bilsteins, I am thinking about airbags to help but I am not sure how they will handle flexing offroad, dont want to pinch one!
