New Mexico 4Runner Owners Thread

Hello! NE Heights here!

I'm happy to discover this thread (only two years after joining this site, haha). I'm a big Toy fan after having owned a Tacoma TRD and two 4Runners. I used to wheel the Taco with a local 4x4 club, but found they were too Jeep-centric (until they needed a vehicle to load firewood into!)

I just sold the 2000 4Runner on craigslist, and am now considering a modest build on the family vehicle 2005 Sport. I haven't pulled the trigger on any mods yet, since it rides so nice, but I am aching to get back out there. Still trying to decide whether or not to keep XREAS.

HAHA! I loved my Taco, but it was totaled and replaced with an Infiniti G35, which I absolutely hated. Nice car, but I needed a 4x4. I figured a 4Runner is the perfect blend of family cruiser and weekend fun vehicle.

...although I do miss my Taco!

So I picked up another toy last night... A 99 Limited.
It was coming down cloudcroft in rain when he decided to take a take a short cut down the mtn! I picked it up at the tow place and with a little creativity and help from a friend, I was able to drive it to work! OMG it smoked for over a hr from all the oil that seeped thru the engine, but hell, it drives pretty straight for a rolled truck! I bought it for parts originally, but idk, I might just start cutting into it and making it a truck to wheel in! What do you guys think? Its got 212k mi on it, it has the factory E locker and everything!

Gian, I MIGHT make the meet. My front end is all back together, but the rear axles are still in pieces with a pile of homework standing in the way, haha! But I have all afternoon thursday and all day friday and I really want to finish up the swap.

Hey thanks for the invite. I wish I didn't work weekends, otherwise I'd be in for sure! One of these day ill have to bite the bullet and call in.
How technical are the trails you all usually go on? I wouldn't want to go ill prepared. All I have is the bilstein 5100's, which leveled up the front about 2.5 inches.

i made it through a trail in moab that was 7 out of 10 difficulty with a ****ty 2.5" front spacer lift, stock rear end, and no sliders so you will be fine. these are like a 3 or 4 out of 10
