New Mexico 4Runner Owners Thread

I saw that. I just dropped in over there and made a post in the NM owners thread to see if anyone over there has knowledge about Paliza. Even if the canyon had too much snow and turned out to be a bust, that FR 289 is a pretty neat trail too, with lots of views. Either way, it would be easy to make a day of it.

You still need to check out Caja Del Rio with me, and once I get some decent skids I'd like to try a run through Diablo Canyon. This summer I'm definitely going to run Goose Lake & Greenie Peak up by Red River, too. There's a whole world out there besides the Puerco my friend.

I'll probably be in for that meet on the 23rd. OH YEAH... I have a vacation request in for MOAB, which I think will be approved, and I have a kitchen pass from the Mrs. that includes permission to head out there solo if the Baby's not ready.

I would love to wheel with both of you guys, whenever you get a date nailed down, especially a saturday coming up, let me know and i will make the trip to join yall. Hit some trails and have a beer or two.

The last weekend of March our local wheeling group is having a big run in Las Cruces. As of right now it is just a Sunday run but if any of you ABQ guys want to come down Saturday we will get a group together to hit some different trails and grill out or something. I have actually been camping out in your thread for a while the past week, looking back at all of your trail run trips and taking notes. Looking on other local forums and blogs too. I have big plans for this summer mi amigo, I don't want to leave a single stone in this state unturned! I love that area up by jemez though, I could live up there.

Thats awesome to hear about moab, really hope you make it! This year is gonna be way better than last year! If you make the 23 meet you should bring the family! Would be nice to finally meet your daughter.

That looks like a fun one too. There is so much available down south, it's crazy. I checked out the facebook page and saw that Jake Q is one of your members. That guy's old 4Runner was nuts... I really dug that rig.

Either way, we should definitely work something out. We're getting a big enough group here in NM that we could have some fun & give those CA fellas some competition on the forum. You said the last weekend in March, so the 30th/31st? Because as of now, I do have that weekend off.

I could probably go out within an hour of my house every saturday for two or three months and never hit the same trail twice, i am really loving NM. And yes, Jake's old rig was awesome, would love to see it in person one day. Not sure who bought it.

I agree on the NM group really showing up a lot on here lately and in an awesome way with some really solid builds. I would most certainly be down to having a large NM centric event either up your way or down here. Hopefully you can work us into your schedule that weekend (30&31) and talk about it more then.

Thats great, would yall be passing through Alamogordo or close by on the way to Carlsbad? My wife and i havent been yet and this would be a good excuse to ride out there with another sweet 4Runner.

Probably! Its gonna be a loop when we make the trip.

-Abq
-East on I-40, down hwy 285 through roswell to carlsbad
-Back to up to Artesia and across hwy 82 to Alamagordo
-down to cruces
-back up I-25 to Abq

Or the other way around depending on what day the actual wheeling trip is on. If it stays on sunday we will hit carlsbad on saturday and probably spend the night in alamagordo or las cruces then head to the meet sunday morning.

My ShrockWorks Rear Bumper showed up today.....

Anyone here need a nice chrome OEM bumper - no scratches or dents.
Should fit 2001 and 2002. I will also have the limited flares with mud flaps which are Dorado Gold but can be painted. I also will have an OEM Tow Hitch for anyone who needs one.

I'm going to remove the OEM Bumper on Thursday but may need an extra set of hands to install the new one.

Nice, Paul!!! You'll definitely want an extra set of hands for the install, I cracked one of my taillights trying to do mine solo. If you give me a heads up, I'd be glad to give you a hand if I can get away for a couple hours. You still have my phone number right?

Broken shock??

Hey guys. I could use a little help, being a Toyota salesperson and not a tech, I dont usually work on my own truck, and I noticed I have a issue that has popped up. I was getting a noise from the drivers side rear, so I stopped on the trail and flexed out the truck to look, sure enough it looked/felt like the shock bolt had come loose... well that was a few days ago. today I clean everything off and take a look and it looks like the whole shock is busted, its just flopping around in the shock mount hole. So I guess the shock is broken???

I'm running longer factory FJ shocks to get more flex, I guess the longer shock and a big bump could have broke something? What do you guys think?
