New Mexico 4Runner Owners Thread

I've been wheeling with the local Landcruiser club and the snow wheeling is a blast. I think we manage to get out at least once or twice monthly during the winter months. The kids and dogs love the snow play and we generally have a real good time. My Runner is not quite ready for snow wheeling yet but it's getting there so the 80 has been having all the fun.

This club has few 4Runners, few FJCs, couple of GX470s and of course bunch of 40s, 60s, 80s, 100s, and mini trucks. If this interest you, go here, create a new thread and introduce yourselves. The monthly breakfast get together is going to be this coming Saturday and there is a sticky thread and details of the time/location/etc.

I usually post up when I go on wheeling/camping trips and this state has a lot to offer in that regard. It's an open invite for like minded folks who likes to play outdoors.

Hey Ron, I hope you have been good. I had picked up a part time job on the weekends so the poor 4Runner didn't get a lot of love there for a while. But I no longer have the part time thing so next time you want to do a run let me know!

So I'm fairly new here, I've been browsing since I bought my Runner in July but recently joined. I've been looking for some people to wheel with around southeast New Mexico. Everyone seems to be in Albuquerque or the northern parts of the state.

Howdy neighbors, new to the forum. We sold our beloved FJ Cruiser last week. We used the FJ for off roading and overlanding for nearly 11 years and enjoyed the heck out of it. We have a new Cement TRD Pro on order, hoping it will be here in a month or so. Looking forward to some basic mods and getting it dirty on some NM, UT, and CO trails. Maybe we'll see you out there. Be sure to post some pictures of that Cement runner once you get it. I really like that color. Hopefully, you have better luck getting a cement 4runner than I have getting a cement Tundra through these NM dealers.

I have bought my last three (including the 4R) through Desert Sun in Alamogordo. Good people to deal with and very straight forward. Ask for Brandon Burling - he has treated me very well with buying the FJ, my wife's Tundra, and now the TRD. They've got a customer for life with me because of their service after the sale. Full disclosure - I don't get a kick back from them, just a very happy customer.

I will certainly post when it comes in.

Be sure to post some pictures of that Cement runner once you get it. I really like that color. Hopefully, you have better luck getting a cement 4runner than I have getting a cement Tundra through these NM dealers.

Moved to Taos from NC at the end of November for the ski season, working as a lift operator at Taos Ski Valley. Brought my '08 4Runner with me, got it before I left and I love it. Anyone know any good offroad trails that are accessible in the winter time?

Thanks guys! I pulled my deposit with the dealer in Albuquerque but I'm going to hold off getting a new truck at least until after the Chicago auto show next month. The 2018 Tundra is supposed to debut there so I want to see what changes are made since I've waited this long. I may even wait until after I do my taxes to see how hard the IRS hits me this year. I will definitely give that guy a call when I'm ready again.

Welcome! 4runner meetups are few and far between but they do happen. I'm usually always looking forward to go wheeling but my schedule is a little screwy so I don't always have normal days off. I'm not sure there have been any 4runner work days but that doesn't mean we can't get together and have one. I'm 80 miles to the west but I go to Albuquerque all the time.

Just in case nobody has told you, be sure to lock up anything you don't want stolen. Arming yourself may be a good idea as well. Albuquerque, actually all of NM, has got a little rough over the last decade or so.

I've met the owner and visited his shop a couple times. Very cool but busy guy. Has some cool stuff lined up for this year. I usually do my own work so I haven't had him work on my vehicle.
