New Mexico 4Runner Owners Thread

There hasn't been a group run out of here in quite some time but the Toyota/Tacoma group on facebook (TTE NM or something like that) go on runs often. I've unfortunately missed all of them due to work or busy with something else. Let me know when you're in town, I wouldn't mind going out there again.

I belong to the TTENM group on FB and they don't go on runs "often", far from it!

I belong to the landcruiser group on Ih8mud.com site and this group does runs and camping trips. There is mix of 2nd,3rd, 4th and few 5th gens in this group.

I've been meaning to join up over there. It would be nice to meet a group who is willing to get out on the trail on a regular basis.

EDIT: Joined, and intro posted

Maybe often wasn't the right word. Maybe now and then. I don't get on FB much anymore but when I do, it seems they are posting about some runs. Unfortunately, shift work really gets in the way of going on any runs so I haven't been able to attend any. Last year we "hosted" a run on Mt. Taylor on there and it initially had a lot of interest but when it came down to it, nobody showed up. :noidea: We went anyway but it was kind of a let down.

Finally settled in Albuquerque and would love to get together for a trail ride. I drove one out of Tijeras a few months ago and it was a pretty fun run. I have a green 2nd gen, give me a wave if you see me!

Sucks that nobody showed up on your run. The group is 20 somethings and still figuring out this sport. Nice bunch of folks regardless.

Welcome to the hood man! Lots of Toyotas in this town and some of them are quite done up to the gills.

Hiya.

Hey there everybody. Thought I would drop in and say hi. My name is Matt and I'm on the hunt for a 3rd gen between $5-8k that I can take of. Hope to see you guys around, and thanks for the thread!

Howdy, :smow:

Sewing machine enthusiast?

I have an old early factory machine a friend gave me. Found it in a dumpster, needs a bit of work. I need to find a home for it.
I also have a 3rd gen I am 'thinking' of selling, so I can focus on the '89...

..and welcome to the forum!

It's a reference to Toyota actually. From what I understand the symbol comes from back when they used to make sewing machines. :) Thanks for the welcome. What's your 3rd gen look like?

Can I get a recommendation on a good alignment shop in the ABQ area. I just installed a Dobinsons/Dirt king lift and need to get into an alignment shop this week. From what I read most shops do a decent job on stock vehicles but it takes an "experienced tech" to dial in a lifted truck.

Ive used Chets in the past and they did a great job on my stockish 4Runner but my 5th gen has a bit more lift and I am wanting 3.5 degreeish caster.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up going to Abq Tire on Menaul. Mark came highly recommend from some other Toyota guys. He did an awesome job and gave me 3.5 of castor as I requested.

Cedro was decent last week but after the rain/snow this week it probably isn’t so great right now.

A buddy and I did cedro peak this weekend. Had a great time hitting the trails and camping. Only a few spots were really muddy.

I’m going to be in need of a good alignment soon. I have SPC UCA’s that are adjustable and every time I’ve had an alignment they never do what I ask. Your guy, Mark, is good with lifted Toyota’s then?

I have no complaints with Marks work. I’ve got 2.5ish and he made my 4Runner drive straight and true. No complaints at all.

I will be replacing my wheels in the next week or two. I would like to sell them locally but can’t stand craigslist and the number of scammers that contact you with any given ad. They’re 17x8.5 Pro Comp 7031 Striker wheels. -6 offset with a deep lip. They are flat black and in good condition. The only marks/blemishes are from some monkeys at discount tire nicking the area around the lug nut holes during install. I’d let them go for $400 OBO for someone local to avoid shipping. I’m in the Rio Rancho/Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. PM me and i can send detailed pictures of all the wheels. Wheels only, no tires. Here’s a pic of one, and yes i have the center caps as well.
