Greetings. I just bought at 96 4cyl 4runner as a backup vehicle. The first thing I did was look for a discussion board to mine the knowledge and experience of other devotees.
I belong to a muscle car board, which has been priceless for restoration.

I used the handle 5k4runner as i plan to use it for my trips to running event, as well as hauling my kayak to southern Indiana creeks.

I had a Cherokee i drove for 200,000 that was a 97, and think this Toyota would have served me better. So far i am enjoying it.

I got it odd a Craigslist ad. It has 128,000 miles, the body and frame are pretty good, the interior is in need of a good cleaning, and is at a detailer now. My black lab Ebbie seems to like it too.

Welcome from baltimore. I'm a new guy also, bought my 2000 runner about a month ago and i love it. My 2 dogs love it also, alot better than hauling them in the backseat of my camry, lol. What kind of muscle car? As you can see from my sig i'm a chevelle guy. Alot of good info here. After replacing my timing belt and w. pump my first mod was i took everybodies advice and upgraded my front brakes to the beefier tundra brake set up to eliminate the brake pulsation, it was a quick, easy and effective upgrade. Post a pic of your runner when you get a chance.

Hi, I have a Dodge Challenger TA and a Challenger R/T that I had right after high school. the R/T is about to get a bunch of sheetmetal work done on it.
I need to check out some of the tech stuff here, I also have some brake issues and saw on the "red flags" area, that this is a common issue. I am also looking into adding a tranny cooler. it was mentioned that the coolant lines within the radiators are failure prone and will put anti freeze into the transmission.

how difficult is the timing belt to change? I have a shop and even a car lift, but don't know if I want to tackle that.

Welcome. Good to see another Hoosier on here. Where at in Indiana are you? I'm actually in the process of trying to get a meet up formed.
I added a tranny cooler to bypass the radiator to prevent the milkshake, which I recommend...pretty easy to do. Do you have a timing belt or chain with the 4cy? I haven't changed mine, but plan to soon. Have heard its more time consuming than difficult. Look up the maintenance sticky under the 3rd gen section.

Hi, I live in Bloomington, and have a tree farm near Tell City. There is a done of outdoor recreation in that part of the State, so that's one of the reasons I bought it.

On a side note, IU would have been in the final four, in another bracket. Oh well, next year looks pretty good.
